What a 13F filing shows

Investment managers with more than $100 million in US-listed stocks must report their holdings to the SEC on Form 13F within 45 days of each quarter end. A 13F lists long positions in US-listed stocks, ETFs and options. It does not show short positions, cash, bonds or most non-US holdings, and it arrives weeks after the quarter ends, so it shows where a fund was positioned rather than where it is today.
